SAUERBRATEN 
1 1/2 lbs. round steak
1 tbsp. shortening
1 envelope brown gravy mix
2 c. water
1 tbsp. onion, minced
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. brown sugar
Salt & pepper
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Cut meat in 1 inch squares and brown. Remove from skillet and add gravy and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer 2 hours. Remove bay leaf and serve. Serves 4 to 6.
