MEXICAN RICE (TEXAS STYLE) | |
There is no exact measurement for this, it's all done by eye and taste. That's how I learned by my mom but I tell you my wife has perfected this family recipe. long grain rice vegetable oil bouillon cube (chicken) whole clove garlic, fresh minced fresh tomatoes fresh onion cilantro garlic powder tomato sauce cumin First fry your rice in oil along with chicken bouillon cube and fresh garlic. Keep a close eye on it or it will burn! When the rice gets golden brown, add fresh tomato and fresh onion. Let cook for about 1 minute then add cilantro, garlic powder, tomato sauce and cumin. Right after add water (just enough to cover rice about 1/4 over). By this time you should smell all the nice aromas the spices give out. Cover and let cook until all water is gone and rice is cooked. Like I said all this is done by eye and tastes just like when I was a kid and would see my mom and grandma cook. Try this recipe and I promise you'll love it! Submitted by: REXican |
