CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE 
1/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Whipped topping

Mix sugar, cocoa and flour. Mix in well-beaten eggs. Add milk, a little at a time, stirring well. Cook in double boiler until thick, stirring constantly. Add butter and vanilla and stir. Pour into baked pie shell. When cool, top with whipped topping.

If you want meringue instead of whipped topping, separate the eggs and add only the yolks to the chocolate mixture. For meringue: Add 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar to room temperature egg whites. Beat, gradually adding 6 tablespoons of sugar, until stiff (peaks will form). Pour onto pie. Bake in a 375 degree oven for a few minutes or until lightly browned.
