WESTERN HOSPITALITY CASSEROLE | |
4 lbs. beef cubes 3/4 c. flour 2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. oil 2 cloves minced garlic 6 oz. can tomato paste 1 1/4 c. dry red wine 3 c. water 1 tsp. thyme 2 bay leaves 2 cans mushrooms 8 oz. pkg. noodle bows, cooked and drained 3 c. shredded Cheddar cheese Coat meat with flour and salt. Brown meat in oil. Add garlic, paste, wine, water, thyme and bay leaves. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove bay leaves. Stir in mushrooms and noodles. Divide mixture into 2 (8x12 inch) baking dishes. May be frozen at this point. When ready to use defrost, cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Uncover. Top with cheese and bake for 15 minutes. |
