SNICKERDOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening (can be part butter)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together thoroughly the shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture. Chill dough. Roll into balls into size of a small walnut. Roll in a mixture of 3 tablespoons sugar and 3 teaspoons cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Makes about 5 dozen 2 inch cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes until light brown.
