BLACK MIDNIGHT DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. cocoa
2 c. hot water
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder

Combine cocoa and hot water. Stir to dissolve. Add to creamed shortening, sugar and egg, alternating with dry ingredients (sifted together). Bake in two 8 inch cake pans, 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees.
