RICH POUND CAKE 
9 egg whites
9 egg yolks
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
2 c. butter
3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl of an electric mixer, let egg whites warm to room temperature. Grease and lightly flour 10" tube pan. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. At a high speed beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually beat in 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, until soft peaks form.

In a different bowl, at high speed, beat in yolks with remaining 1 cup sugar, butter, vanilla for 5 minutes. At low speed gradually beat in egg white mixture, just until blended. Turn into prepared pan. Bake 65 minutes. Cool 15 minutes on a rack. When cool, sift confectioners' sugar on top.
