HOT WATER CORNBREAD 
1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
Hot water
Peanut oil

Mix all ingredients except water. Pour hot water a little at a time until batter ingredients are moist. Batter must not be too thin. Pour enough peanut oil (about 2 inches deep) in a medium skillet (preferably iron). Have oil hot enough for frying. Fry by large spoonfuls.
