BANANA BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
6 tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. mashed, fully ripe bananas
2 eggs, unbeaten
1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts

Measure first four ingredients into sifter; sift into bowl. Mix in shortening. Measure the buttermilk and vanilla together in cup; add to flour mixture. Add the bananas, eggs and nuts; mix. Turn into two greased bread pans. Bake at 375 degrees until done. Serve warm or cold.
