1 1/2 c. flour, sifted 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg yolk 3 tbsp. milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and set aside. Blend shortening and sugar together. Beat in egg yolk. Add milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Divide dough into 2 parts. Leave half plain. To remaining half add melted morsels. Chill for a few minutes. Roll out brown and white parts separately, each between 2 pieces of waxed paper. Place brown on white dough, touching. Remove wax paper. Press dough together, lightly. Roll by hand as for jelly roll. Chill. Cut into 1/8 inch slices. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes. |
