CHIP 'N' CHERRY CAKE 
3 eggs
1 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
16 oz. pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
2 c. chopped nuts
1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates, coarsely cut
1 c. candied cherries, halved

Beat eggs; stir in sugar. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Combine with chocolate pieces, nuts, dates, and cherries. Fold in egg and sugar mixture. Turn into greased and waxed paper lined - one (9 x 5 x 3 inch) loaf or 2 (7 1/2 x 3 3/4 x 2 1/4 inch) loaf pans. Place pan of water on bottom oven rack while baking cake. Bake cake on top rack in slow oven (325 degrees) for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Cool. Remove from pan.
