CHERRY NUT BREAD 
4 c. unbleached flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. maraschino cherries (cut up)
1 egg
2 c. milk or cherry juice and milk

Sift together first 4 ingredients; add nuts and cherries. Add unbeaten egg and liquids, stirring quickly (on low speed of mixer) into dry ingredients. Pour into 2 large (5 x 9 inch) loaf pans or several small loaf pans. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 1 hour. Small ones may take less time. Check center with toothpick to see if nut breads are finished baking.
