SHOO-FLY PIE 
1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
3/4 c. white or brown sugar
1/3 c. butter
2/3 c. hot water
1 1/2 c. sifted flour (plain)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/3 c. Karo (blue label) syrup

Mix flour, sugar, salt and butter with a pastry blender until crumbly. Sprinkle 1 cup of crumbs over bottom of pastry shell. Stir soda into hot water mix in syrup. Spoon liquid mixture over crumbs and add remaining crumb mixture. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 25 minutes longer. Serve warm if desired.
