PRETZELS 
1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
1 lg. egg, beaten
Salt, garlic or onion salt (for top)

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar and salt. Blend in flour and knead dough until smooth. Cut into small pieces. Roll into ropes. Twist ropes into pretzel shapes. Grease cookie sheet with Crisco.

Brush pretzels with beaten egg. Sprinkle with salt or onion or garlic flavoring. Don't let rise. Bake at 425 degrees 12-15 minutes until browned.
