WHITE CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
10 oz. white chocolate, coarsely chopped, or 10 oz. vanilla flavored chips
1/2 c. coarsely chopped Macadamia nuts, lightly toasted

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugars, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg; mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture. Blend in vanilla. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Drop by heaping tablespoons about 3-inches apart on ungreased cooking sheets. Bake at 350°F for 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned. Let stand a few minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool.

Yield: About 2 1/2 dozen.
