CHRISTMAS COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Jellies, nuts, baking decorations

Blend together butter, egg, extract. Stir in sugar. Add flour, baking powder and salt and mix together well. Dough should be rather soft, but not stick to fingers.

1. Cover and chill dough 2 to 3 hours; roll out 1/4 inch thick on floured board; cut with favorite cookie cutters.

2. Using a cookie press, press cookies onto ungreased cookie baking sheet.

After shaping cookies and placing on baking sheet, decorate as desired, ie:

Place 1/8 teaspoon jelly in center of cookie, sprinkle with sugars, candy sprinkle, etc., place a nut in centers/sprinkle with sugar, etc.

Bake in preheated oven: 7 to 10 minutes (until edges very lightly browned)
