PFEFFERNUESSE 
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 c. citron
1/2 c. nuts, chopped fine

Mix sugar and well-beaten eggs in large bowl, add 2 cups flour plus other dry ingredients plus finely cut citron and nuts. Mix well, then keep adding remaining flour, one cup at a time. This will be very thick. You can refrigerate for a short time, then form into 1-inch balls or slightly larger.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 12 to 15 minutes in moderate 350 degree oven. Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies. One of our family's favorite Christmas cookies!
