JELL-MERINGUE-FILBERT BARS 
BOTTOM LAYER:

1/2 c. soft shortening
2 egg yolks
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 c. flour

Mix shortening and egg yolks. Add powdered sugar and flour.

MERINGUE:

2 egg whites
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. filberts

Beat egg whites. Add sugar and cinnamon gradually. Fold in filberts.

Mix base thoroughly. Press into ungreased 9x13 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Spread jam or jelly on base. Cover with prepared meringue. Return to oven and bake 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and cut into bars.
