MERINGUE BARS 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

MERINGUE:

2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. pecans
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour with baking powder and salt cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients, mix thoroughly. Spread in greased 8 x 12 pan. Spread with meringue. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake in moderate oven (325 degrees) for 30 minutes. When cool cut in 2 inch squares.
