3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
Pinch of salt
2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
Orange rind from orange
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped dates
Juice of 1 orange

Cream butter, sugar, beaten egg and rind. Alternate flour, baking powder with sour milk and baking soda into butter mixture, ending with flour and dates. Mix well. Pour into square pan and bake at 350 degrees until done.

When cake is done, take toothpick and punch holes in cake. Pour orange juice over cake and let soak in.
