1 lb. ground beef 1 onion 1/2 green pepper 1 c. celery 1/2 c. water 1/2 c. ketchup 1/8 c. vinegar 1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper 1 tsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce Makes 6 to 8 servings. Place in a skillet ground beef. Cook until brown stirring. Drain fat. Add onion, green pepper and celery, chopped finely. Add water and cook over low heat until tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Combine ketchup, vinegar, salt, pepper, chili powder, dry mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Mix and pour over ground beef, heat 5 minutes. Put on toasted or regular bun or wrap each bun separately in tin foil and place on cookie sheet. Heat in 325 degree oven for 20 minutes. Alternative to placing in oven is to heat 10 to 15 minutes and place on buns. |
