CHOCOLATE WAFFLES 
2 eggs
1/4 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted shortening or salad oil
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 square unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/4 c. pecans
1 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder

Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and add pecans. Put the eggs and sugar into the glass container. Cover and beat at high speed until lemon colored and creamy. Add the milk, salt, shortening, chocolate and vanilla. Run at high speed until well blended. Use a rubber spatula to push the ingredients down from the sides of the container whenever necessary. Pour over the flour mixture and stir until smooth.

Bake in a hot waffle iron. Serve as a dessert with whipped cream, ice cream or hard sauce. Yields 3 waffles.
