BEEF PEPPER STEAK | |
1/4 c. Crisco oil 1 lb. round steak 1 med. onion, thinly sliced 2 green peppers, thinly sliced 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 c. cold water 2 tbsp. soy sauce 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. garlic salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper Preheat oil in electric skillet, uncovered, at 325 degrees. Have meat cut into thin strips, about 1/8" thick. NOTE: Partially frozen meat is easier to slice. Add meat and brown in hot oil. Remove to serving dish. Add onion and pepper slices to skillet and cook until just tender. Dissolve cornstarch in water and soy sauce. Add sugar, garlic salt and pepper. Pour into skillet with vegetables, stirring until sauce is thickened and clear. Add meat and cook several minutes longer or until heated through. Serve over hot rice. |
