PEANUT BLOSSOMS (COOKIES) | |
1 3/4 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. peanut butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1 unbeaten egg 2 tbsp. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Solid milk chocolate candy kisses Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Cream together shortening and peanut butter, gradually add the two sugars. Creaming well. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Blend the dry ingredients gradually. Mix thoroughly. Shape rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375°F for 8 minutes, then remove from oven and place a solid milk chocolate candy kiss on top of each cookie, pressing down so cookie cracks around the edge. Return to oven and bake 2 - 5 minutes longer. Note: This recipe makes cookies - not pastries and is not to be confused with any commercially available pastry. |
