BEEF MANDARIN | |
3 tbsp. vegetable oil 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen pea pods 1 lb. boneless sirloin steak, cut into 3 thin 3 inch strips 1 1/2 tsp. onion powder 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1 pkg. (1 oz.) brown gravy mix 1 c. water 2 tbsp. each: brown sugar, soy sauce 1 jar (4 1/2 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained Hot cooked rice (mandarin orange segments) Heat oil in heavy skillet. Add pea pods, saute 2 minutes. Remove pea pods. Add steak strips and seasoning. Cook stirring constantly, just until redness dissappears. Sprinkle gravy mix over meat add water, brown sugar and soy sauce. Cook and stir until thickened. Stir in mushrooms and pea pods. Cook until just heated through. Serve on rice. Garnish with orange segments if desired. Watch your salt as the gravy mix is salty. |
