BEEF MANDARIN 
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen pea pods
1 lb. sirloin steak, cut into 3-inch strips
1 1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 (1 oz.) pkg. brown gravy mix
1 c. water
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 (4 1/2 oz.) jar sliced mushrooms, drained

Heat oil in heavy skillet; saute pea pods for two minutes and remove. Put steak and seasonings in skillet and cook, stirring constantly, just until redness disappears. Sprinkle gravy mix over meat; stir in water, brown sugar and soy sauce; continue cooking until thickened. Add mushrooms and pea pods. Cook until heated. Serve over hot rice. Serves 4 to 5.
