ORIENTAL MARINADE 
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup honey or corn syrup
1/4 cup sherry
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and slice in half
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 small onion or shallot, thinly sliced

Combine soy sauce, honey, sherry, and vinegar, mix well. Add garlic and ginger. Stir in oil and onions. Pour marinade over beef or pork.

Let marinate for 4-6 hours or overnight, depending upon thickness of food.
