This is an old Horton family recipe brought over from Scotland by Mr. Horton's great-grandfather!

Boil together for 15 minutes: 2 c. water

Remove from heat and pour into a large mixing bowl - DO NOT DRAIN.

Mix the following ingredients together by hand and add to raisins: 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 4 c. flour
