1 lb. raisins
1 c. cold water
1/4 lb. butter
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. water
1 tbsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt

In pan combine raisins and 2 cups water; simmer slowly for 15 minutes. Add 1 cup cold water, soda and butter. Remove from heat and let stand until butter melts. Mix flour, sugar, spices and liquid together; mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Best in tube pan.
