DATE-NUT DESSERT 
1 c. chopped dates
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. white sugar
2 c. flour
1 c. salad dressing (Miracle Whip)
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1 pack chocolate chips (6 oz.)
Pinch of salt

Mix dates, soda and water. Set aside to cool. Combine white sugar, flour, salad dressing and salt; add date mixture. Pour into greased 9 x 12 inch cake pan. Combine remaining ingredients, sprinkle over batter. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.
