Someone mentioned the bars seemed to fall apart and they didn't previously. I made these today after abstaining many years, you just can't do that! My first thought was the bag of chips is now only 11 ounces instead of 12! I just kept out a few ounces of the cereal.

I've always used corn flakes instead of rice krispies.

I make this with 2 cups of Rice Krispies, pour it into a 9x9 greased pan and cover the top with mini marshmallows pressed into the mixture with the back of a spoon. They are called Nutterscotch Squares. The recipe was given to me many years ago. I make them every Christmas. My family loves them!

Use CHEAP supermarket peanut butter, hydrogenated oils and sugar added to boot. My grandmom made these for years and years with no issues whatsoever. I unsuccessfully tried to make a better version with pricey organic peanut butter with no success at all. Sometimes our depression era relatives can teach us something. Give up the healthy eating diet and just enjoy all the junky pleasures of these yummy cookies.

My Grandmother used to make these when I was a little boy. The best thing Grandma ever made, I loved them. The recipe got lost over the years when Grandma passed away. I'm 58 years old now and found the recipe.. Thanks to this site. Going to relive a little bit of my childhood this weekend.

My great grandmother cuts the rice krispy treats in half and spreads vanilla ice cream between them then freezes them. They are so yummy!

I also have been making this for years - however, the last few times I have made them,they fall apart. Any ideas why? They weren't put to waste though - I crumbled them all up in a plastic bag and added about 1/2 cup to a cup of powder sugar and shake them all up ... kinda like they are muddy-buddies 'preemie-cousin'. Not quite sure how to eat it yet though

My father used to make this recipe when I was a kid (over 45 years ago!!). It seems like not too many people are familiar with this version, any longer, only the better more commonly known marshmellow Rice Krispie treats. These are far superior, in my opinion.
