FUNNEL CAKES 
1 1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. sugar
1 egg
1 c. milk
Fat or cooking oil for frying

Sift dry ingredients together in one bowl. In another bowl, beat the egg and add the milk. Add dry mixture and beat until smooth.

Pour about 1 inch fat or cooking oil in a frying pan and heat to 375 degrees. While pouring the batter into a large funnel, hold your finger over the bottom opening. When oil is hot, remove your finger from the hole and with a cylindrical design or circular motion, guide batter into pan. Fry until lightly browned; turn to other side. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
