CHICKEN OR TURKEY BAKE | |
1/3 c. chopped green pepper 1/3 c. chopped onion 3 tbsp. shortening 1/4 c. Bisquick 1 can cream of celery soup 1 1/2 c. milk 1 1/2 c. diced cooked turkey or chicken 1 c. frozen green peas 2 c. Bisquick 1/2 c. cold water 3/4 c. shredded American cheese Cook green pepper and onion in 2 quart kettle in shortening until tender. Stir in 1/4 cup Bisquick. Add soup and gradually stir in milk. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute, then stir in meat and peas. Pour into a 12 x 7 1/2 x 2 inch pan. Mix 2 cups Bisquick and water to make soft dough, beat vigorously 20 strokes. Smooth dough into a ball on a floured board. Knead 5 times. Roll into a rectangle 15 x 9 inches. Sprinkle with cheese. Roll up tightly, starting at 15 inch side. Seal well and cut into 12 (1 1/2 inch) slices. Place slices on turkey mixture. Bake at 425 degrees until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Serves 4-6. |
