You can cut the sugar to one cup. They are still plenty sweet enough.

1/2 cup cocoa is way too much (for me). Chocolate taste way too rich. May try again with 1/4 cup.

My mother in law used to make these chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookies when went to their home to visit. They always smelled great!! I lost her recipe and then a became friends with a sweet lady at church where I went, and guess what she made them too!!! I would call her almost every year for the recipe. It seemed like it always made her feel good that I would call just her. Thank you sharing this recipe, here at Christmas time for my sake!!! )

So easy and no oven needed! Took me 20 minutes from start to finish. Made 3 dozen rounded teaspoon sized cookies. Haven't made these in years! Simply delicious!

I've always liked these and I like to cook.. Want something REALLY GOOD!!! Put Crumbled BACON in the mixture before you spoon them out.. Don't add bacon while its cooking and I let it cool some first.

Now listen very carefully.
You must make a double batch of these immediately.
Send them to me Overnight express.
Tell the mailman to place them on my doorstep,
and back away slowly. And no one gets hurt.....

My great grandmother handed down this recipe. All of my friends call these crack cookies because you can't eat just one! By far the most requested thing I make! Also it's been my fave desert since I was little! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

I remember my great grandmother making these when we would visit her. We call them Mamaw Howard cookies. I make these for my son. He doesn't know his great great grandma but he knows her cookies!

 Kim A. Pierce (Michigan) says:
I change my recipe according to the ingredients brand. For example I use nothing but Quaker 1 minute oats and Jif peanut butter... IMPORTANTLY 1/4 and 1/8 cup of cocoa, NOT QUITE 1/2 cup... THEN always I add 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts and the same with raisins.

 Marnie Welsh (Minnesota) says:
I have this as an old recipe in my mother's handwriting calling for 1/3 cup cocoa instead of 1/2, cream instead of milk, and 1/2 tsp. salt. There is an additional note suggesting additional options (1/2 cup peanut butter/or coconut/or raisins/or marshmallows). Increase milk by 1-2 tablespoons if lots of additions. "Eat up because they are NOT good the second day."
