BEST BREAD PUDDING
8 slices bread, toasted & buttered
1/2 c. raisins
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, beaten
3 c. milk, scalded
1/2 tsp. cinnamon, mixed with 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Put half of toasted, buttered bread in a baking dish that has been buttered well. Glass is best. Use half of raisins on this bread if desired. Putting all of the raisins in the first layer keep them from getting too brown. Put remaining slices of bread on top of first layer and pour hot milk mixture over it. (Add milk, eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and vanilla together and mix well before pouring into baking dish.) When milk has been added, let set for about 10 minutes to soak up in bread, pushing down with the back of a spoon frequently. When 10 minutes is up, sprinkle bread mix with remaining sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
