HUNGARIAN JAM AND MERINGUE CAKE 
3 c. sifted flour
2/3 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 lb. butter
1/2 pt. sour cream
3 egg yolks
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Prune or apricot butter
3 egg whites
6 tbsp. granulated sugar
Chopped nuts

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and shortening as for pie crust. Add sour cream, egg yolks and vanilla. Mix well. Pat into baking pan. Spread prune or apricot butter on top. Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Make meringue from egg whites and sugar. Spread on top of baked cake and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake to delicate tan.
