APRICOT CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 stick butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. milk
3 c. all-purpose flour (plain)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. apricot preserves

Cream shortening and add sugar. Beat until creamy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add flavoring and preserves. Bake at 350 degrees about 20 or 30 minutes or until golden brown. This makes 3 large layers.

ICING:

Ingredients should be at room temperature.

Cream together: 1 lb. box confectioners' sugar, 1/2 stick butter, 2 tsp. vanilla, 1 c. nuts.
