4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. melted shortening
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Mix soda and cream of tartar thoroughly through the flour. Add other ingredients plus 1 1/2 cups milk. Do not knead. Shape into 2 1/2 x 1/4 inch cakes and bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.
