SODA BISCUITS 
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk

Sift flour once, add baking soda and salt and sift again. Cut in shortening. Add enough milk to make a stiff dough. Turn onto floured board. Knead slightly. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutters. Bake in hot oven (475 degrees) 15 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits.
