GINGERBREAD CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter 1 c. sugar 1 egg, beaten 1 c. molasses 2 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. ginger 1 c. hot water Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean (around 35-45 minutes); allow to cool. Slice desired amounts and cover with Gingerbread Glaze. GINGERBREAD GLAZE: 6 tbsp. butter 1 c. sugar 3 tbsp. flour 1 1/2 c. hot water Mix and let cool a little then add 3 egg yolks. Cook above mixture until nearly thick. Add slowly: 3 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt |
