1 box raisins
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves

Boil all ingredients for 3 minutes. Set aside to cool. When cool add 2 teaspoons soda dissolved in small amount water, 4 cups flour sifted with 1 teaspoon baking powder. Bake for 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees.
