CHEESECAKE SQUARES 
1 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. sweet butter
8 oz. delicatessen cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1/4 tsp. lemon rind
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. chopped nuts

Combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Keep out 1 cup of mixture and press the remainder into an ungreased 8x8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine cream cheese, sugar, egg, milk, and lemon rind and juice and beat well. Spread over baked crust.

Combine 1 cup reserved topping with chopped nuts, and sprinkle over cheese mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.

Served on festive occasions on all old-time Jewish homes.
