CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES 
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. milk or cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter until soft. Add sugar gradually, creaming as you add. Add egg and beat well. Sift remaining dry ingredients together and add alternately with liquid. Mix well and chill in refrigerator.

Roll dough 1/8-inch thick and cut with your favorite Christmas cookie cutters.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in preheated 375°F oven for 8 to 12 minutes. Allow to cool before decorating.
