CIRCLE 2 CASSEROLE | |
2 lbs. chuck, chopped 1 (1 lb.) pkg. broad noodles 1/2 lb. grated cheddar cheese 3 cans Hunt's tomato sauce 1/2 pt. sour cream 1 lg. green pepper, reserve a few rings to decorate top of casserole, dice rest of pepper 3 lg. onions, diced Saute onions and green pepper in 1/4 cup butter until soft. Add chopped meat which has been cooked separately to remove excess fat. Stir together, add 2 1/2 cans tomato and sour cream. Season with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Turn off heat and add about 2/3 grated cheese, stir until melted. Cook noodles, drain in 1/4 cup soft butter. Using 1 (4 quart) casserole dish (or 2 - 2 quart casseroles), place layer of noodles in greased casserole, next layer of meat mixture, layer of noodles, layer of meat. Top with remaining tomato sauce and balance of cheese. Decorate with pepper rings. Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees. Serve with tossed salad and Italian bread. About 10 servings. |
