SWISS COOKIES 
1 lb. butter plus 3 tbsp. lard
1 lb. sugar
4 eggs
2 lbs. flour
Scant tsp. baking powder
Rind of 1 lemon

Cream butter, lard and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and lemon rind and mix well. Blend in flour and baking powder. Cover and chill 1 hour. Roll dough very thin on lightly floured board. Cut in desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes until very light brown. Cookies can be sprinkled with colored sugar before baking, if desired.
