APPLE COFFEE CAKE 
3-4 c. thinly sliced peeled apples
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. sugar
3 c. unsifted flour
1 c. minus 2 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. powdered cultured buttermilk
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. water
3 extra lg. eggs
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. walnuts or pecans
2 tbsp. butter, melted
Powdered sugar frosting

1/2 cup liquid buttermilk can be used then omit powdered buttermilk.

Mix apples, cinnamon and 1/4 cup sugar. Let set. Cream butter and white sugar. Add eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with water. Beat at low speed 2 minutes. Pour 1/2 batter into pan, put apple mixture on top, pour in rest of batter. Mix brown sugar, nuts and melted butter. Crumble on top. Bake and frost.
