BLACK WALNUT POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sugar
1 c. milk
5 eggs
1 tsp. black walnut flavoring
1 c. black walnuts, lightly floured

Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add milk and flour alternately, mixing well. Add flavorings and nuts. Place in cold oven. Set heat to 325 degrees and bake 1 hour. Increase heat to 350 degrees and bake 30 minutes longer or until done.
