HOT CROSS BUNS 
1/4 c. milk
1/3 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
2 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
3 eggs
4 c. flour
3/4 c. currants
Egg white

WHITE FROSTING:

1 c. confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. hot water
Dash of vanilla

Scald milk, add sugar, salt, shortening. Let cool. Add yeast in water, stir. Add eggs, yeast mix, and 1 cup flour to milk mix. Beat with mixer at medium speed 2 minutes. Stir in flour and currants, beat well.

Let rise until double. Punch down; turn out on floured board. Put to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place 1 1/2 inches apart on greased sheet. Let rise 1 hour. Brush with egg white. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Drizzle the shape of a cross on each one with frosting.
