HOT CROSS BUNS 
2 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
2 pkgs. dry yeast
2/3 c. dry milk
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1/2 c. candied citron, chopped
1/2 c. golden raisins
5 - 5 1/2 c. flour
Confectioners' sugar

Mix first three ingredients in large bowl and dissolve yeast thoroughly. Stir in next 7 ingredients by hand or mixer. Stir in remaining flour and knead until smooth and elastic. Let rise in warm place until doubled. Punch down and let rise another 30 minutes. Turn out on floured surface and roll to 1/4" to 1/2" thick. Cut dough into 2 1/2" squares and let rise on greased cookie sheets until doubled. Cut a cross in the top of each bun and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle crosses with confectioners' sugar.
