ICE BOX FRUIT CAKE 
3/4 lb. crystalized cherries
3/4 lb. diced candied mixed fruit
3/4 lb. chopped pecans
2 oz. shredded coconut
1 (8 oz.) box vanilla wafers
1/4 lb. creamy butter
1 tbsp. lemon extract
3/4 lb. raisins
1/3 c. evaporated milk

Crush vanilla wafers finely. Melt butter and pour over wafers. Add milk and extract. Mix well. Cut fruit and nuts well. Add prepared wafer mixture and mix thoroughly. Pack firmly into pan and place in refrigerator. Chill thoroughly before serving. Yields 4 pounds.
